HUGE Thanks

I learned earlier today that Let's Entertain was chosen as a favorite blog in the premier issue of the new e-zine-Nesting Newbies Magazine-For Those New to Nesting and Those Who are Obsessed with their Nests!!  I am just thrilled to pieces!

And speaking of the magazine-what a brilliant idea it is!  It's a magazine dedicated to cooking, entertaining and decorating-does it get any better?!  Not to mention it's on line so it's all interactive and stuff.  Their first issue came out just in time to celebrate fall and boy did they.  With delicious fall recipes, cool room makeovers and harvest tablescaping it's sure to be one of your new faves.

Big thanks to everyone at Nesting Newbies for choosing Let's Entertain as one of your favorite blogs!  I am honored!

Thanks to all of my readers also for making this possible!

Natural Fall Tablescape

I have been seeing a lot of people using dried beans and lentils in their fall decorations and I love it.  The natural look is simple and comforting.  You can either go all natural or just add a few things here and there in your decorating.  Here is gorgeous example of incorporating natural elements in a tablescape.

Friday's Fall Cocktail

Try a Falling Leaf Fiz at this fall's gatherings.  It's so pretty and sounds so tasty!  Sure to impress your guests.

  • Dash of simple syrup
  • 4 parts of sparkling wine

    Pumpkin Cupcakes

I just love these sugared pumpkin cupcakes!  The minis are my favorite. The recipe sounds delicious too.  If you aren't a baker (I am not), you could make cupcakes from the box and just decorate the tops like this.  Perfect for parties, treats for neighbors, kids at school etc.

To decorate:  Divide the frosting into two bowls and tint to different shades of orange with food coloring. Mound the frosting on top of cupcakes and make rounded. Roll the entire cupcake in the sugar to coat or roll just edges in sugar, alternating between fine and coarse sugars as desired. To make indentations, press a wooden skewer on top of the sugared cupcake. Add pretzel sticks or rods as stems.

    Pretty Pear Centerpiece

Here is another idea for decorating your fall tables.  Take a break from pumpkins and think about using pears.  Pears add a simple warmth to any setting.  The addition of wheat in this centerpiece really evokes feelings of fall.  This centerpiece would also be perfect for a Thanksgiving table.  BONUS-it's EASY to make!

    Spiced Pomegranate Sipper

There is nothing like a hot beverage in cool weather to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling.  Many new recipes are popping up for them I would like to try.  This one sounds especially good to me.  How could you go wrong with pomegranate and pineapple juice?!  BONUS:  the cinnamon and cloves simmering on your stove will make your house smell divine, naturally.  Simmer right before your guests arrive to fragrance your home.

    Spiced Pomegranate Sipper

Prep: 10 min., Cook: 18 min.

    Makes about 8 cups

    Ingredients

    • 1  (2 1/2-inch-long) cinnamon stick
    • 5  whole cloves
    • 5  thin fresh ginger slices
    • 2  (16-oz.) bottles refrigerated 100% pomegranate juice
    • 4  cups  white grape juice
    • 1/2  cup  pineapple juice
    • Garnishes: pineapple chunks, orange rind curls

    Preparation

    1. Cook cinnamon stick, cloves, and ginger in a Dutch oven over medium heat, stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes or until cinnamon is fragrant.

    2. Gradually stir in juices. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat; reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer 15 minutes. Pour mixture through a wire-mesh strainer into a heat-proof pitcher; discard solids. Serve warm. Garnish, if desired.

Note: For testing purposes only, we used POM Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice and Welch's 100% White Grape Juice.

Tipsy Hot Spiced Pomegranate Sipper: Prepare recipe as directed. Stir in 1 1/4 cups almond liqueur just before serving. Makes 9 1/4 cups.

    Fang-tastic Cocktail

Just finished up the first season of True Blood  on dvd and I am addicted!  Also, super excited about New Moon next month.  With both of these and Halloween right around the corner, I've got fangs on the brain.  This cocktail is perfect for Halloween, True Blood or New Moon parties.

I love Effen Vodka.  If you like black cherry flavor without the sweetness you will love it too.
